Fry’s English Delight (BBC Radio 4)

Fry’s English Delight isn’t the only language-based programme on the radio, but it is the best. It’s always entertaining and informative, fronted by the ever affable and erudite Stephen Fry, and devoted an episode to Plain English in 2014: all the more reason to celebrate it.

John Rentoul – The Banned List

'The Banned List' was originally a book in 2011. In keeping with the constant supply of horribly mangled examples of our language, it’s now also an ongoing blog. Rentoul hates a lot of the things we do, particularly business or office buzzwords. With his constantly updated list (which also appears in The Independent) Rentoul makes a point of humorously cataloguing the worst of empty waffle.
