Specialist areas

This section of the site contains examples of the language used in documents relating to specific areas. Jargon and incomprehensible writing are not only found in legal or governmental documents. Over the years we have worked on and improved documents from many specialist areas. This includes work carried out for councils, financial companies, government departments, health authorities and pharmaceutical companies, and many other commercial companies.

On the main page for each specialist area there are links to:

  • examples of gobbledygook found in documents from that field; and
  • our past news and press releases section, so you can search for relevant articles and news stories on a particular subject.
Some main pages also have links to more information relating to that particular specialist area.

If you have any questions about writing documents directed at specialist areas, or if you have some examples which you think other people would be interested in, please send us an e-mail.
