Annual awards

Each year, we present awards for the best and worst examples of English. The main awards recognise organisations and individuals who have genuinely made an effort to present themselves using clear and concise English. The infamous 'Golden Bull' and 'Foot in Mouth' awards inject a sense of mischief into the proceedings. All the award winners can expect to receive media coverage.

You can nominate your own company's documents or those of another company for the awards by sending us a hard copy by post. We do not, for obvious reasons, give awards to documents or websites that our staff have worked on or edited.

We give awards in the following categories.

Golden Bull (for the worst examples of written tripe)
Foot in Mouth (for baffling quotes by public figures)
Inside Write (internal government documents)
Media Awards (radio, television and newspapers)
Plain English (open category)
Plain English Web Award (websites)

The awards are not connected in any way to our Crystal Mark scheme.
